Mr Andrew Ramsay

Cataract Surgeon

Mr Andrew Ramsay is a Consultant Ophthalmologist. He graduated from the London Hospital Medical College in 1991 having won the final year prize in medicine. He trained in ophthalmology at the Tennent Institute, Glasgow and then wended his way south via Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesborough and finally Moorfields Eye Hospital, London where he held Fellowships in both Medical Retina and Uveitis and also Cornea and Anterior Segment Surgery.  He worked at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgical Disease and then moved to the West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds where he was a Consultant for 13 years. Whilst at the West Suffolk Hospital, he developed corneal transplantation, medical retina and diabetic eye screening services.

Mr Ramsay’s hobbies include beekeeping, koi carp and real tennis.
